How Can I Get Google Adsense to Pull Up Ads That Relate to My Website?

Adding HTML comment tags directs Google AdSense to relevant content on your page. The Google AdSense program allows you to earn advertising revenue by adding Google-sponsored advertisements to your website. Google AdSense determines the advertisements to be displayed based on the content of your website. However, sometimes these advertisements are incorrectly chosen, because other text on the page skews Google's determination of relevancy. To counter this, you can add HTML code to emphasize sections of your Web page for Google to use in determining advertisements displayed. Likewise, you can mark off sections to be ignored.

Emphasizing Sections

Step 1

Open your Web page in a basic text editor, such as Notepad.

Step 2

Locate a section of your page you want to emphasize. As an example, if you have several paragraphs describing a particular product or service, you may want AdSense to look heavily at that text to bring up advertisements where they may purchase such products or services. Avoid small, one-sentence sections, which do not give Google adequate information. Google recommends including "a significant amount of content within the section."

Step 3

Type the code "" just before the section.

Step 4
Type the code "" just after the section.

Step 5

Repeat for any other section you would like Google AdSense to emphasize.

Step 6

Save your changes and upload the updated page. Allow up to two weeks for Google to recognize the changes.

Ignoring Sections

Step 1

Open the Web page in a basic text editor, and locate a section that should not be considered by Google AdSense. As an example, you may have a generic disclaimer on a page, which is unrelated to the content itself.

Step 2

Type "" before the section.

Step 3

Type "" after the section.

Step 4

Repeat for any other unrelated sections.

Step 5

Save your changes and upload the updated page.

How to Update a Bank Account for Google AdSense

You can't update your Google AdSense bank accounts -- only add new ones.Google AdSense is a contextual ad service which displays relevant ads on your website. AdSense supports EFT (electronic fund transfer), meaning that they can deposit the revenue you earn through the program directly into your bank account. If your account details have changed and you want your revenue to go to a different account, you must register a new bank account, as old account details cannot be edited or updated, even by AdSense support staff.

Step 1

Go to the AdSense site and log in. Click “Payments” from the “Overview” menu and then click “Payment settings.”

Step 2

Select “Add a new bank account” next to the “Available forms of payment” header and then enter all of your bank account details into the fields provided. Note that you will need to enter the bank account holder's name exactly as it appears on the account. When you have entered all the details, click the “Make this my selection for future payments” check box and then click “Save.”

Step 3

Check your bank account regularly over the next 10 days. AdSense will make a test deposit of $0.15-$1.10 into your account, which you will use to verify that you are the owner of the account. When you see the test deposit, make a note of the amount.

Step 4

Go back to the AdSense “Payment settings” screen and then click “Verify this account.” Enter the amount of your test deposit into the text field and then click “Next.” Upon receiving the correct test deposit amount, AdSense will approve your new account. Click the new account to set it as your default payment method.

How to Make a Keyword Rich Website for Google Adsense

You can use Adsense to make a profitable site. You can make a keyword-rich website to use with Google Adsense. You probably want to do this if you are trying to make a profitable website and want to drive more traffic to the site. Google Adsense is useful for displaying ads on a website to make money, but you also need to know what people are searching for, so you can put the most highly searched keywords in content on your site.

Step 1

Open your Web browser and go to the Google AdWords website (See "Resources"), which shows you the frequency that people search for certain keywords and gives you ideas on similar keywords to add to your site that are more popular.

Step 2

Type in a keyword in the "Word or Phrase" text box. This may be a topic or phrase on your site or one that you are thinking of using.

Step 3

Type the letters shown in the picture in the text box below it. Click "Search." A list of related keywords, along with the one you typed in, are shown.

Step 4

Click the headings to sort the keywords by the number of local or global monthly searches they receive. You can also sort by alphabetical order or by the amount of competition there is for a keyword. It is of course best to use keywords that are the most popularly searched to get the most traffic.

Step 5

Create content for your site that incorporates commonly searched terms after entering some different keywords and discovering what is popular. Make your content high quality, though, not simply focusing on using the keywords.

Step 6

Go to the AdSense website to create a new ad (See "Resources"). Sign in with your Google account or sign up for one. Click the "My Ads" tab and "New Ad Unit."

Step 7

Enter a name for the ad in the "Name" text box. Use the settings on the page to customize the size, font, color and other options for the ad.

Step 8

Click "Save and Get Code." Paste the ad code into the desired location on the page in the HTML of your website.

Step 9

Check AdWords in the future to keep your site content up to date with the most popular keywords. Monitor your earnings by visiting the AdSense site periodically.

What Is Google Adsense?

Google AdSense can be best described as a major online advertising system. AdSense benefits both advertisers and publishers mutually. However, for advertisers, there is some money to be made with AdSense. Some individuals earn upward of several hundred dollars a month, and some larger companies earn thousands. Google AdSense has changed much over the last five years and added many more tools to benefit website owners and bloggers. If you have been thinking about signing up for AdSense, you will first want to know how it works, as well as the basic structure behind it.

AdSense

Chances are, you have noticed the numerous different types of advertisements on the web. Clicking on them will either open up a new website in a pop-up or take you directly to a new page. More than likely, some of those ads that you may have clicked on were Google AdSense ads. There are many different types of advertising programs on the Internet. Just like television and television commercials, the Internet needs advertising to generate revenue. Google AdSense is basically Google's ad-serving campaign.

Advertisers

Many companies that have a large Internet presence want to advertise their websites to draw in more potential customers. To do this, these companies and websites need to advertise their websites on other websites. Google AdSense is one of the best options for doing this. These companies create ads of all different sizes that they wish to be placed on other people's websites. They then pay Google an advertising fee to include their companies in Google's AdSense program.

Publishers

Publishers are the main backbone of Google's AdSense campaign. Publishers include anyone with a website or blog who is willing to post Google's AdSense ads on their pages. Because these ads do take up space on the page and the publishers are advertising for Google, Google in return gives the publishers a percentage of advertising revenue generated from the ads. It's kind of like a billboard company. AdSense publishers own the billboard display. A company wants to advertise on the billboard space, so it pays you for the advertisement. Google is the middleman that negotiates, and Google does take a profit. If you are interested in becoming a Google AdSense publisher, follow the link in the Resources section.

Types of AdSense Ads

There are many different types of AdSense ads. The most basic ads are the plain text ads. These ads display company slogans and other text-based sayings to draw a web surfer in to click and visit the website. Text on Google AdSense is completely customizable by publishers. This allows them to blend ads to better match the theme of their websites or blogs. Background color, font color and ad size can all be customized by the publisher. The second type of ad available through AdSense is a graphic banner ad. Rather than text, these ads display a picture or animation. Some newer banner ads are even interactive, allowing the web surfer to do things such as play games or watch short video clips. The third type of ad available through AdSense is a video ad. In case you didn't know, Google also owns the popular site YouTube.com. So it now features AdSense players that display small advertisements at the bottom of its video players. You may have noticed these ads while watching videos on YouTube. The fourth type of ad available through AdSense is a feed ad. These ads work well for blog publishers, because blogs often generate a lot of traffic through subscribers. When subscribers subscribe to a feed with AdSense, they will receive advertisements as well.

AdSense Earnings Explained

AdSense ads are constantly fluctuating on how much they pay publishers. AdSense determines pay on various technical factors that Google keeps private. However, there are two determinants that play a huge role in how much money you can make with AdSense. The first is click-through rate. The higher percentage of people that visit your website or blog and click on an ad, the more money you will make. For example, if 100 people visit your blog, but only 1 of them clicks on an ad, you only have a 1 percent click-through ratio. The higher this ratio is, the more money you will make. The second determinant is keywords. Keywords involve what type of ad is displayed on your page. For example, if a visitor to your blog clicks on an ad about pop music, you will only make something like 15 cents. However, if a visitor to your blog clicks on an ad about mesothelioma, you could make $10. This is because mesothelioma is a higher-paying keyword. Advertisers pay Google more to advertise on the topic of mesothelioma.

Google AdSense Approval Process

Google has expanded a great deal from its foundation of advertising and search. The mainstay of Google's vast empire is advertisement sales. Google started making money by selling targeted ads to appear next to search results when people would search. They have expanded the advertising program using AdSense, which allows owners of websites to earn a commission for hosting Google ads targeted to the content found on the page. In order to use AdSense, you need to first be approved by Google.

Application

The first step in the AdSense approval process is, of course, applying for an AdSense account. You'll need to give your website URL in addition to contact and payment information. Finally, you'll need to accept the requirements laid out by Google for participation in AdSense: do not click on your own ads, read the program policies and do not have another AdSense account.

Requirements

Before applying, make sure you meet the requirements Google has set out for AdSense accounts. Have a working website running so Google can confirm the site works. You must have access to the code of the site and be authorized to change that code. Having a working site filled with high-quality content that is unique on the Web will greatly increase your chances of being approved for an AdSense account. Finally, don't pay or in any other way encourage people to click on things on your site; Google won't like that since it dilutes their advertising effectiveness.

Review

Google reviews AdSense applications by browsing the site both manually and with the Google servers looking for the quality of the site, both from a content perspective and the build quality of the site. Google employees will look to ensure all the criteria for AdSense accounts are met before approving you. This could take several weeks to complete, but usually the review takes a few business days.

Approval

When you are approved for an AdSense account, you will have access to a code generator where you can customize the type and size of ads that will appear on your site. Google will generate the code you can then copy and paste into the source code for your website to make the AdSense ads appear. Once the ads are live on your site, Google will start tracking the number of views and clicks on your ads to determine how much revenue you will receive for hosting the ads. Higher-paying ads earn a higher commission and lower-paying ads earn a lower commission.

Why Use Google AdSense?

People are constantly looking for ways to make money from their websites and blogs. Google AdSense is a simple solution, especially if the website is frequently visited. AdSense is Google's way to provide companies venues for their advertisements. A website owner adds a Google AdSense banner, and Google automatically fills that banner with ads from its customers.

It's Free and Easy

Google AdSense is completely free to join and add banners to your website. You simply have to follow the four steps on the Google AdSense "Getting started with AdSense" page -- read program policy, select the product, select design and get and paste code -- and you are all set to begin using AdSense. Some websites, such as Blogger, make it even easier by including graphical versions of the code you can add to the design of the Web page.

You Make Money

Of course, the only reason to include an ad on your website to reap some sort of benefit. Google will pay money each time someone clicks on an ad or views an ad that was on your website. It does this because Google is auctioning off the space on your Web page to advertisers, who are in turn paying Google. The amount you earn will depend on how popular your site is and how much money advertisers are willing to pay for your type of content.

Ads Are Targeted

When you add banners from other companies, you are often stuck with the same annoying ad, which may eventually become irrelevant to your website's target audience. Google has resolved this by generating ads based on the content of your website. It scans your website for keywords and determines what ads match with your website. Companies may also specify your website as a good match for their ads. Google also analyzes the interests of viewers from your website through your "Ads Preferences Manager."

Ads Are Unobtrusive

AdSense ads are not like those 1990s flashing banners and virus-laden popups. Google recognizes your viewers are visiting your website to read the content, so it has attempted to make ads that are obvious, but do not distract from your website. The ads are usually small boxes placed on your website based on your preferences. You can also customize your ad colors and choose from multiple ad formats so the ads match the design of your website, or stand out more if that is your goal. The ads always include the words "Ads by Google" so your viewers will know it is not part of your website.

Requirements to Open Google Adsense Accounts

Earn from your website or blog with Google Adsense. The Google Adsense online advertising network is an effective way to earn revenue from your website or blog. Sign-up for a Google Adsense account to display adverts on your website or blog pages and you'll get paid each time a visitor clicks on an advert. Google Adsense is widely used and welcomes applications from small publishers as well as large publishers. Your website or blog must meet Google Adsense eligibility criteria before it's accepted into the program.

Website Requirements

Applicants must have a working website or blog to join Google Adsense. A newly-established website or blog is acceptable in most parts of the word, including the United States, Canada and Europe. In some locations, including China and India, the blog or website must be established for at least six months before it qualifies for the Adsense program.

Content Conditions

Google Adsense has strict content policies to protect the interests of its advertisers. Adsense accepts applications only from websites with original content. If your site contains duplicate or stolen content -- including text, images and multimedia clips -- then Adsense will disable the account. Google also bars sites with adult content or content that promotes illegal activity, including file sharing and some video or music download sites.

Other Conditions

The quality of traffic to a website or blog is an important consideration for Google Adsense. Sites must meet strict criteria that prohibit the use of artificial traffic generation schemes or software because these can unfairly inflate advertiser costs. Applicants must also agree not to click the advertisements on their own sites. Google Adsense automatically disables accounts if it suspects click fraud. Applicants must agree to Google's advertisement display guidelines. All sites must also publish a privacy policy that meets Adsense terms and conditions.

Personal Requirements

The legal definition of an adult varies between locations, but you must be over 18 years old to qualify for a Google Adsense account. Applicants should also have a bank account for receiving regular payments from Google Adsense. The network pays publishers with a check or electronic funds transfer for each month when the minimum $100 payment threshold is met.
